These aged maple cabinets were restored with the use of Mr. Sandman‘s New Refinish. This project began on Monday and was put back into service on Friday. The work is performed on site and is dirt free. The cabinets and drawers do not have to be emptied out and one still has use of the kitchen during the operation. New bumpers were also installed for protection. Mr. Sandman offers more than just expert wood floor work, but anything interior wood refinishing like railings, cabinetry, window seats, furniture, you get the point! Got Wood! Give us a call. This project involved the use of my patented New Refinish Solution to refinish these beautiful cherry cabinets and hardware. My clients were thrilled with the results! I additionally sanded and finished several floors for these clients over the past 30 years. It was both a pleasure and a thrill to come back in and perform refinishing with my new patented, wet sand system on more than just the wood floors, but anything interior wood refinishing. Thank you for allowing Mr. Sandman to bring back to life your kitchen cabinetry. Onto the next wood endeavor! Anthony Magaro a.k.a. This project involved wet sanding some very old pine floors that were too thin to dry sand, but still able to restore to a serviceable, manageable condition for renters use. On to the next wood floor rescue! Anthony Magaro a.k.a. This project was quite the challenge, but I was up for it! The client had installed an engineered, white oak, distressed, white washed plank flooring through the entire first floor and staircase, landing and wanted to match the step treads to that exact same effect or as I explained at least close. I explained I had never attempted to match this type of distressed flooring let alone to an existing step tread with the many unforeseen variables ahead! Even trying to produce a sample was difficult in that duplicating the same techniques on a step tread is logistically difficult. Having said that, I came up with an 11 step process which involved the following: Step one: Remove all of the old existing finish system and stain Step two: Use water to soften the grain and use a mechanical stripping tool which I used on a battery powered drill, but couldn’t get close enough to the edges or around the spindles . I had to employ a multitool blade that had razor sharp teeth, which I was able to etch all of the edges nosing, and around each of the balusters to duplicate the same dish out effect. Step three: Using a polyurethane based paint which I chose a more cream color, I painted each tread, and while it was wet, scraped each one individually to expose only the paint in the soft grain Step four: After overnight drying, I then used my patented solution to soak each tread and allow that to dry overnight Step five: My solution reacts with the tannins in the wood to create the effect of the color which I was attempting to achieve, without the use of any stain. Step six: Clearcoat, each step tread. This was done in an attempt to preserve the painted work in the dished out grain. Step seven: A succession of two coats custom tinted sealer using Mixol tints. I named it Perrywinkle Step eight: Finish with 3.5 Poloplaz ultra Matt finish system and incorporating aluminum oxide additive for added protection. The rail sections and posts were also restored without complete stripping using the same patented New Refinish Solution. I was happy to be a part of the final act of what is now a complete seaside home in the middle of wonderful PA! Anthony Magaro a.k.a.
